Arrived in the BVIs! Yahooo

Were in cat country now!
Soper's Hole Docks
We have much to report.  We put Atalanta “on the hard” for repairs at the Puerto Del Ray Marina in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to address the damage done when we were hit by another boat on New Year's Eve.  Repairs included work on the rudder, carpentry, hull paint and rigging. We also addressed a number of engine issues and made improvements to our standing rigging. The marina provided us with good service and competent repairmen. Atalanta is feelin’ good again.

We celebrated the wedding of Rachel and Patrick at Sleepy Hollow’s round barn in Huntington, Vermont.  It was a spectacularly beautiful ceremony and celebration and wonderful to be together with old friends and new family.  We have to say (without prejudice) that Rachel looked stunning and Patrick made a handsome groom. Fabulous food, music, company, weather, and venue contributed to a memorable event.  We are so happy for both Rachel and Patrick.
John at Soper's Hole Bar

On the drive to JFK, we were joined by our good friend, John Creelman, for the flight to Puerto Rico.  Atalanta was back in the water and waiting for us upon our arrival. Murray was also waiting for us. He had a wonderful time visiting David, Roslyn and Victoria in San Juan. He is grateful for their care and attention and realizes that not many dogs are fortunate enough to vacation with wonderful folks in a lovely beachfront home. Lucky dog.

Culebra was our next port.  Culebra’s main (only) town is Dewey at the head of Ensenada Honda.  This is a vibrant small town with shops, supplies, restaurants and much more.  The island is circled by reefs providing great snorkeling and diving.  We snorkeled at several different beaches and enjoyed great food at Mamacita’s and Zaco’s Tacos.  On March 2, we anchored off of Great James Island between St. Thomas and St. John in the US Virgin Islands.  The US and British Virgins are very close to each other.  After exploring a number of coves, beaches and reefs on St. Thomas, we made the short hop over to Soper's Hole (BVI) to begin our adventure in this beautiful part of the world,  We are currently on Tortola, the largest of the BVIs and looking forward to exploring its many ports.  Unfortunately we will be saying goodbye to John on Sunday as he begins his journey back to Vermont.  Why he wants to return to the cold, we’re not sure.
